Badminton Oceania welcomes Lachlan Greensill to the team as he undertakes the new role as Operations Assistant (full time).
Lachlan is a recent graduate from Auckland University of Technology, majoring in Sports Management. Originally from Taranaki, he has grown up with a passion for racket sports, having spent plenty of time on a squash court as a player and coach. In his new role, Lachlan will essentially provide day-to-day support to all staff, with a particular focus on the areas of administration, communications and events.
He will be based in the Head Office in Ellerslie, Auckland and will contactable on operations@badmintonoceania.org
“Having come from a strong background in squash it excites me to be able to learn more about a different racket sport. This exciting opportunity to work for Badminton Oceania will allow me to further grow my knowledge in the sport and recreation industry. I look forward to experiencing top level events and meeting everyone within the Badminton sector. There is no doubt that after watching top level players that I will be eager to get on court myself”, says Lachlan.
Other staff changes
Over the last two months, Badminton Oceania has undergone a couple of other staff changes too. Firstly, the Regional Development Officer (Fiji) role, held by Kumon (Monte) Tarawa, has concluded the end of December 2022. Moreover, Ian Bridge’s role as ‘Coaching and Development Officer’ has been restructured with a new title – ‘Disability Consultant’. Moving forwards, Ian will consult on projects and activities related to Coaching and Disability (including Para Badminton) across the continent.
Badminton Oceania would like to thank Monte for work over the past 4 years and acknowledge the outstanding Shuttle Time results he has achieved in Fiji during his time in the role leaving a very solid platform for Badminton Fiji to build on.
Finally, Badminton Oceania’s Communications Manager (Tom Leonard) will be departing from his role at the end of February to develop further opportunities in New Zealand’s sports sector. Recruitment for the replacement role (Marketing and Communications Manager) is underway with an appointment likely within the month.
