For the Oceania teams it was their final day of play in the Mixed Team Championships. It has been an exciting time for the four countries, playing in an environment that would have been new to most of them. As this stage of the BWF World Junior Championships comes to an end, the individual component begins on Monday 2 October.
The highlight on day five would have to be a near win for Cook Islands. Going into the last day, they had not won a match, let alone a tie. After playing Armenia on their last day, they secured two match wins. It did not win them the tie but all five matches within the tie were played, keeping the excitement alive until the end, finishing with a three game thriller in the women’s doubles.
Australia and New Zealand had 3-0 wins against Spain and Brazil respectively, with Tahiti going down to Latvia 3-0.
