With the 2023 Oceania Champion unavailable in 2024, the field is wide open for a new player to be crowned 2024 CHAMPION. Experienced Australian Falcon, Nathan Tang tops the men’s singles draw for a consecutive year at the upcoming VICTOR Oceania Individual Championships 2024 after a busy 2023 on the international badminton circuit. Tang, who was runner up in 2022 will be looking to improve on his quarterfinal loss in the 2023 tournament.
Runner up from 2023, Edward Lau enters the draw as the number three seed and the only New Zealand player in the top four. After spending two months of 2023 training and playing tournaments in Thailand and Indonesia, he completed the year he reached the semifinals of the YONEX Bendigo International 2023 and the Sydney International 2023. Placed in the bottom half of the draw at the VICTOR Oceania Championships 2024, there is the potential for an exciting match should he meet Australian up and comer, Jack Yu in the quarter finals.
Anchoring the men’s singles draw is number two seed and experienced Falcon’s player, Jacob Schueler. Making it through to the semifinals in 2023, Schueler will be looking to go one better and sealing his place in the men’s singles final this year in Geelong, Australia.
Other players to keep an eye on that will be out for an upset are Australians Ricky Tang, Kai Chen Teoh and Keith Edison, while New Zealander, Ricky Cheng will be keen to be back on a match court after 10 months training in China.
