As the rush for Olympic qualification continues, players from Australia have travelled to Bahrain and The Netherlands to compete in an attempt to improve their world ranking.
Bahrain International Series 2019
The recent winner of the Oceania Tour 2019, Pit Seng Low, opened the Men’s Singles draw with a frustratingly close defeat over two games. Meanwhile, Australia’s reigning national Champion (Jacob Schueler) celebrated a victory to secure a space in the second round where he’ll join fellow compatriot and sixth seed, Anthony Joe.

Louisa Ma suffered a similar fate to Seng Low, with an extremely close opening game and an opponent who remained in control throughout the second end.

Meanwhile, Subhash Aroliveettil teamed up with players from Bahrain in the Mixed and Men’s Doubles draw, finding success in the Men’s Doubles first-round following a straight game win.

YONEX Dutch Open 2019
The Rio 2106 Olympian representing Australia, Hsuan-Yu Wendy Chen, entered the HSBC World Tour Super 100 event in The Netherlands, chasing the higher-ranking points available at the event.

However, Wendy faced the challenge of China’s Li Yun who celebrated a run into the Semifinals in last week’s Yuzu Indonesia Masters. Chen played well and stayed in contention throughout both games, however Li Yun refused to ever give away the lead throughout both games and secured her spot in tomorrow’s second round.
