There will be one definite at the VICTOR Oceania Individual Championships 2024 in the Women’s Singles. With the 2023 finalists in the same half of the draw in 2024, there cannot be a rematch when it comes to finals day.
Australian, Tiffany Ho tops the draw and will be hoping to do one better this year after losing in the final against New Zealand player Shaunna Li. Ho has a current BWF world ranking of 96 and is currently working toward the potential opportunity to represent her country at the Olympic Games in Paris. As a recent recipient of a BWF Player Scholarship in 2023, Ho spent time in Demark at the Badminton Europe Centre of Excellence following her participation in the 2023 World Championships. Her best result in 2023 was runner up at the YONEX Bendigo International where she lost in the final to Yu Yan Jaslyn Hooi (SIN).
Seeded fifth, but with aspirations to once again be present in the women’s singles final this year in Geelong, Shaunna Li has been doing some offshore training of her own. Spending time training in Thailand in late 2023, followed by a runner up title at the Sydney International, Li will be focused on an Oceania title to kick off her 2024 season.
Rising from the bottom half of the draw and securing the number two seed position, Kai Qi (Bernice) Teoh from Australia will have to combat a few up and comers on her road to the finals. Dania Nugroho and Maureen Clarissa Wijaya, who are members of the Australian Falcons Development Program will be nipping at the heels of the more experienced players, hoping for an upset as they work toward the interesting end of the draw.
