Biography:
Badminton was introduced to me in middle school, I hadn’t known about the skills that badminton possessed, like smash, clear, drops, slices, etc. All I knew was to get the shuttle over the net. It was used to past time, and to have fun with family and friends. It wasn’t until 9th grade where I started taking the sport seriously, I began lessons, and slowly developed interest the more I played. Family, peers, and idols that I watched on TV, were my motivation to become better. From badminton, I had learned valuable life lessons, discipline and perseverance. Badminton has also helped me in coping with academic pressure, the immediate thrill of hitting the shuttle was what I needed to keep pushing forward. This year, I was given the opportunity to represent Guam to attend the BWF Pacific U17 Team Challenge. The experience brought forth new understandings and perspectives of badminton, and diversity of badminton players. It encourages me to spread the badminton sport to more Guamanians and other Pacific Islanders!
Interesting Fact:
A special talent I have is that I can wiggle my ears… (it looks cooler than said)
