With 16 international tournaments, 2027 is shaping up to be one of the busiest years in Oceania badminton history.
The calendar features a mix of established events, new tournament opportunities and major multisport competitions across New Zealand, Australia, the Northern Mariana Islands and Tahiti.
The Pacific Games remains one of the most important events on the Oceania sporting calendar, bringing together athletes from across the region in Tahiti.
Due to the packed international calendar, Badminton Oceania has moved the full Oceania Junior Championships, which includes the Mixed Team and Individual competitions, to 2028.
In 2027, only the Individual Championships will be contested, with the event scheduled for 23-26 August in Melbourne following the Melbourne International.
The road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games also begins during 2027, with a number of Oceania tournaments offering athletes the opportunity to earn valuable world ranking points during the qualification period.

Pacific Team Challenge | North Harbour | 11-14 April
Badminton North Harbour in Auckland, New Zealand will host this brand-new event.
North Harbour Future Series | North Harbour | 15 – 18 April
Another Future Series added to the Oceania Calendar, Badminton North Harbour will host yet another international tournament in New Zealand.
Northern Marianas Open | Saipan | 29 June – 4 July
Back for its fifth edition, the Northern Marianas Open will take place at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands. This is also the first event in the calendar where players can earn points for Olympic Qualification.
Saipan International | Saipan | 6 – 11 July
The Saipan International is also part of the Olympic qualification period, giving athletes another opportunity to earn valuable world ranking points ahead of LA 2028.
Pacific Games | Tahiti | 24 – 31 July
The target event for many of our members, the largest multisport event in Oceania will bring together players from across the Pacific.
South Australia International | Adelaide | 11 – 15 August
The second iteration of the South Australian International will be played in August.
Melbourne International | Melbourne | 18 – 22 August
Melbourne will host a Future Series tournament before welcoming Oceania’s leading junior players the following week.
Oceania Junior Championships (Individuals) | Melbourne | 23 – 26 August
In lieu of a full Oceania Junior Championships, BOC will host the Individual Oceania Junior Championships in Melbourne following the Melbourne International.
North Harbour International | North Harbour | 6 – 10 October
The North Harbour International once again kicks off the Trans-Tasman International Challenge circuit in 2027.
Sydney International | Sydney | 13 – 17 October
The Sydney International forms part of a busy October schedule in Australia, with players heading to Bendigo the following week for back-to-back International Challenges.
Bendigo International | Bendigo | 20 – 24 October
International badminton is once again headed to regional Victoria in Australia, with the International Challenge taking place at Eaglehawk Badminton.
Oceania Para Badminton Championships | Bendigo | 21 – 24 October
Held in the same venue as the Bendigo International, Oceania’s Para Badminton players will compete for crucial ranking points and continental titles.
Australian Para Badminton International | Bendigo | 26 – 31 October
Following the continental championships, players will compete against those from across the world in a race for Paralympic qualification points.
Australian Open | Sydney | 16 – 21 November
As the only BWF World Tour event in Oceania, the Super 500 tournament will offer the chance for our players to compete against the best in the World at Sydney Olympic Park.
BWF World Senior Championships | Geelong | 28 November – 5 December
The largest badminton tournament to ever be held in Australia, the World Senior Championships will be the first BWF Major tournament in our region since 2017.
Oceania Championships | New Zealand | 12 – 19 December
The Oceania Championships will close out the year. Teams and individuals will compete for continental titles and regional supremacy in New Zealand.
