Understanding the seeding process:
Players gain a BWF World Ranking from participating in open events outside of the junior circuit and must compete in at least one or more tournaments to keep a World Ranking. A ranking includes up to 10 of a player’s best results from tournaments over the course of 52 weeks.
For newly formed partnerships that do not hold a current BWF World Ranking, a notional ranking is appointed to them that reflects the partnership strength. However, these rankings do not allow them to enter the top four rankings. This allows for a fair seeding outcome for all players involved.
