From local courts to the global spotlight, Australia’s Joshua Ho has officially joined the ranks of BWF Umpires, following a successful assessment at the VICTOR China Open earlier this year. The BWF Council formally approved his achievement during their recent meeting in Paris, marking a proud moment for both Joshua and the Oceania officiating community.
This milestone places Joshua among an elite group of BWF Umpires from our region:
Trish Gubb – New Zealand
Kelvin Tsui – New Zealand
Sidney Galos – New Zealand
Jiten Bhatt – Australia
Cynthia Tam – Australia
Joshua’s journey began in 2017 when he earned his Oceania Accredited Umpire qualification. Like many others, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted his progress, but he returned to the pathway with determination, gaining his Oceania Certificated qualification in 2022.
Starting in 2026, Joshua will be appointed to BWF Grade One and World Tour tournaments, officiating alongside his fellow BWF umpires. He will also continue to serve at Oceania and national events, where his experience will help guide and inspire the next generation of technical officials.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Joshua on this outstanding achievement and look forward to seeing him represent Oceania on the world stage.
