Australian athletes continued to make their mark at the BAHRAIN BWF Para Badminton World Championships, delivering a series of determined and high-quality performances across Days 3 and 4 of competition.
Day 3 Highlights
Lachlan Boulton (AUS) broke through for his first win of the championships in a hard‑fought three‑game battle against Peru’s Renzo Diquez Bances Morales in the Men’s Singles SL4. Boulton held his nerve in the decider to close out the match 21–17, 21–23, 21–13.
In the SL3–SU5 Women’s Doubles, Zashka Gunson/Celine Vinot (AUS) dominated their trans‑Tasman clash, defeating New Zealand’s Anna Hika/Maia Read in straight games, 21–10, 21–5. Hika and Read, who both are new to the international scene, continue to grow and develop their playstyles, both as a pair and individually.
Day 4 Highlights
Arika Shetty (AUS) continued her strong run of form, securing another straight‑games victory—this time over Nigeria’s Chinyere Lucky Okoro—taking the women’s singles SL4 match 21–16, 21–17.
In the Round of 16, Caitlin Dransfield (AUS) delivered one of the standout performances of the day. She powered past India’s Mandeep Kaur with a confident 21–15, 21–11 win to book her place in the quarterfinals.
Shetty, New Zealand’s Rishikesh Venu, and the pairing of Gunson/Vinot all put forward spirited efforts in their respective R16 matches but narrowly missed progressing to the next round.
Looking Ahead
Caitlin Dransfield returns to the court today for her quarterfinal showdown against China’s Yuan Haoying, with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
