BADMINTON OCEANIA PRESS RELEASE

Badminton Oceania (BOC) can confirm that two more players from the current draw have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been withdrawn from the VICTOR Oceania Championships 2022. This brings the total number of withdrawals (due to COVID-19) to three.
The players returned a positive result to RAT tests conducted on Friday morning. One player had yet to begin competing in the women’s singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles and has been withdrawn from all three disciplines. Their opponents will each be given a walkover into the respective quarterfinals.
The other player had already completed matches in the mixed doubles and was scheduled to compete in the women’s doubles on Friday afternoon. Their opponents will be given a walkover into the semifinals.
Testing protocols have been implemented in accordance with Badminton Oceania, Badminton Victoria and Victoria State Government guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all participants and event personnel.
Day two of the VICTOR Oceania Championships will commence today, from 11am.
