Badminton Oceania welcomes Ian Bridge to the team, undertaking the role as Coaching and Development Officer on a part-time basis.
Ian has been involved with badminton for a number of years after coaching in schools and clubs in the UK. More recently, he has spent the last two years acting as Australia’s Para-Badminton national coach and will continue to maintain a strong role within Badminton Australia’s Para-Badminton space. He has played an integral role in helping disability badminton grow from both a participation and competitive perspective, using his passion and knowledge of the game to attract more players and develop pathways for those that want to compete on an international circuit.
Ian will be working closely with Badminton Oceania’s Coaching and Development Manager (Robbie Thackham) in Player Development, Coach Education and Para-Badminton development through both administration and delivery.
“I am excited by the challenges this role will provide and allow me to further develop many people from diverse cultures. Making sport inclusive and seeing the benefits of badminton to both individuals and communities is both satisfying , rewarding and if I can play my part in helping players develop, I am happy!”, says Ian.
