It’s three from three for established mixed doubles pair, Kenneth Choo and Gronya Somerville. Having won the title for the last two championships, the 2024 VICTOR Oceania Individual Championships was another win against New Zealanders Edward Lau and Shaunna Li. The Australians had to work for the win after taking the first game with ease. Lau and Li regrouped and fought hard to take the second game to extension before coming unraveled in the third.

Tiffany Ho looked like she meant business when she walked onto the show court against compatriot, Yuelin Zhang. After struggling to find her rhythm in the first game, Ho stamped her authority on the second to easily put away Zhang.

Lukas Defolky and Huaidong Tang have been around the badminton courts for a few years, however playing as a pair is not something familiar. Partnering up in the men’s doubles at these championships, they were in it for competitive badminton and to have some fun. They got both with the bonus of an Oceania title.

The top two seeded pair in the women’s doubles met in the final, each pair wanting to claim the championship title. Setyana Mapasa and Angela Yu, who have been playing on the international circuit with a lot of success, were not put under a lot of pressure from their teammates and took the win in two games.

The final match of the VICTOR Oceania Championships 2024 featured a Junior Falcon and New Zealand’s number one men’s singles player. Both had tough semifinal appearances earlier in the day and the fatigue was starting to show. Lau dominated the first match, however in the second, Dhand showed some resistance before being shut out of the win.
