Australian Para-Badminton player, Celine Vinot, continues to make waves on the region’s Para-Badminton scene, after medalling in all three disciplines at last year’s VICTOR Oceania Para-Badminton Championships.
Following a year of international tournaments, Celine will compete in this month’s TOTAL BWF World Para-Badminton Championships in Basel, Switzerland, in the ‘Standing Lower 3’ (SL3) Women’s Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

However, Vinot looks to take away more than victories and playing experience from the competition.
“Para-Badminton has helped me to connect more with the Para-community”, says Celine.
The cohesion and unity of Para-Badminton players shines through in the feedback from the majority of the region’s players, and Vinot comments on the sport’s ability to help her learn, associate and excel amongst a community of players unlike ever before.
Reflecting on numerous life experiences, Celine has regularly had to participate in sport amongst able-bodied players, but after finding Para-Badminton, is elated to continue benefiting from these opportunities against like-minded players.
“I continue to play a lot of sport with able bodied kids, and was at a bit of a disadvantage because of my cerebral palsy”
“Until I started playing badminton, I didn’t know much about Para-sport and the opportunities it can give to people with a disability, and am so glad i found it”, says Celine.
Next month’s TOTAL BWF Para-Badminton World Championships will bring together the world’s top players who are hungry for world ranking points and the title of ‘World Champion’.
While Celine will be looking to add to her World Ranking tally, particularly in the race for Tokyo 2020 Paralympic qualification, she is excited to “unlock” more benefits from the receptive community.
