Oceania athletes delivered more wins in Day 2 of the BAHRAIN BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2026.
Arika Shetty (AUS) secured her first win of the tournament with a smooth 21-13, 21-2 win over Egypt’s Basmala Hashim Hassan in the women’s singles SL4.
Compatriot Celine Vinot showcased her ability to clutch up, with a 21-14, 23-25 WS SL3 victory over Brazil’s Kauana Michelson Beckenkamp, continuing her winning streak.
In a trans-Tasman duel, Sarah Keenahan (AUS) bested New Zealand’s Amy Dunn in a high intensity 21-15, 21-15 match.
On the wheelchair courts, Mischa Ginns (AUS) showed her dominance, winning 21-8, 21-10 over Poland’s Magdalena Kozera. She then doubled back to take a second victory of the day against India’s Ammu Mohan with a score of 21-9, 21-3.
The scores from the matches weren’t always representative of the effort and skill put forward by our Oceania contingent. With so many players making their debut and finding their footing in the sport, this experience is already proving to be instrumental in the development of our budding para players.
