Same pair. Same result. A different podium.
Andika Ramadiansyah and Nozomi Shimizu stood on top again, adding the YONEX Bendigo International 2026 mixed doubles title to the one they won at the MAXX North Harbour International a week earlier.
A familiar opponent, a new partner
The final had a rematch feel. Chinese Taipei’s Lin Bing-Wei was across the net from the Australian pair in last week’s North Harbour final too, but this time he had Lin Yen Yu alongside him. The change made no difference. The Falcons were in control from the first serve and wrapped it up in 30 minutes, 21-12, 21-14.
Ramadiansyah said the pair had done their homework. “I think we played our strategy very well. We already knew what we wanted to implement for today’s match.”
Shimizu added that last week’s final had given them a head start. “Last week we played him with a different partner and knew his strengths, so I think we did well.”
For both of them, it was a long time coming. “Very great for us. We’ve been working together so long to become champions,” they said. “I’m so happy, two weeks in a row. Hopefully next week again.”
Their focus, Ramadiansyah said, is already on what’s next. “We want to rest tomorrow and then focus again. But the most important thing is focusing one by one, match by match.”
Lin/Lin leave with gold anyway
It was the second match of the day for both of Chinese Taipei’s mixed doubles finalists, and neither left empty-handed. Lin Bing-Wei and Lin Yen Yu each finish the tournament with a gold medal, in the men’s and women’s doubles respectively.
A rematch, a thriller
Lin Bing-Wei’s gold came in a repeat of last week’s men’s doubles final, with Shao Hua Chiu/Lin Bing-Wei taking on Huang Tsung-I/Lin Ting-Yu. The outcome was the same as at North Harbour, but this time it took three games to settle. Chiu/Lin won 22-20, 22-24, 21-18.
Liao Jui-Chi’s golden double
In the women’s doubles, Chinese Taipei’s Liao Jui-Chi and Lin Yen Yu powered to a 21-14, 21-17 win over compatriots Chung Chia En and You Zhu Wang.
It was the second title of the day for Liao, who earlier took on heavy favourite Tung Ciou-Tong in the women’s singles. In a final that was a battle of grit and endurance, Liao held her form to win 22-20, 18-21, 21-8 over the MAXX North Harbour International women’s singles champion.
Liao Jhuo-Fu comes through a yo-yo
The day’s third three-game match was the men’s singles, which swung from one side to the other for 64 minutes. India’s Ansh Negi took the opening game before Chinese Taipei’s Liao Jhuo-Fu hit back to win 12-21, 21-16, 21-14.
That’s a wrap
That’s it for the YONEX Bendigo International 2026. The final international challenge in Oceania this year, the ROKETTO Sydney International, begins on Wednesday 14 October 2026 in Sydney, Australia.
