Day two had all events on court, with some players experiencing upsets and others, marathons.
The first match on court one turned out to be the longest on the second day of the YONEX Bendigo International 2023. The 64 minute, three game display of grit and determination had the players fighting for every point.

Established Australian Falcons team member and number two seed, Nathan Tang put in a gallant effort against his opponent from Macau China, who currently has a world ranking of 459. The 58-minute match had its ups and downs for both players, however in the end Pang Fong Pui (MAC) took control in the third game and inevitably the win.

Kai Qi (Bernice) Teoh was bundled out of the Women’s Singles by compatriot, Sydney Tjonadi in a tight, hard fought match.

Upon returning home after many overseas tournaments in the last few months, chasing qualifying points for Paris 2024, Gronya Somerville and Kenneth Zhe Hooi Choo look settled in their first match on home soil.

Second seed in Mixed Doubles, Hussein Zayan Shaheed/Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq (MDV) could not contain the enthusiasm of Australian’s Huaidong Tang/Priska Kustiada, resulting in an early exit from the draw.

The top seed in the Men’s Doubles from Chinese Taipei, Chen Cheng Kuan/Chen Sheng Fa were handed a walkover today so will feature for their first match on Friday.
It was more like a double take in the women’s doubles as two sets of twins from Maldives and Chinese Taipei took to the same court to face off. This very rare occurrence was a delight to watch in the latter end of today’s session.
