From February 10-16 February, the VICTOR Oceania Championships will take over the Ken Kay Badminton Stadium in Ballarat, Australia.
Combining the able-bodied and para badminton events in the same week, the able-bodied Championships will also see the Men’s and Women’s Team event take place.
The winning team in each event (one Men’s team and one Women’s team) will qualify for the TOTAL BWF Thomas and Uber Cup 2020 in Aarhus, Denmark.
Australia will head into the event as favourites in both disciplines, as the Men’s and Women’s team came out as first seeds, followed by New Zealand as second seeds.
It is anticipated that many faces from the podium at this year’s Samoa 2019 Pacific Games will appear in the Men’s and Women’s Team for Tahiti and New Caledonia (taking up the third and fourth seeded spots across the two events), while the Men’s Team from Fiji will also compete for their share of the podium as fifth seeds.
