I was born and raised in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands. Iโm the middle child of three. My sister also plays and has had the opportunity to represent NMI at a youth level.
I never knew about badminton when I was young. I was more into volleyball and soccer until a friend introduced me to the sport. Then I played my first official tournament and still wasnโt too interested in pursuing badminton competitively until I reached middle school. I was impressed by the rallies. Watching my coaches play inspired me to pursue it further.
I play for my school in an inter-school tournament in Saipan. I train three times a week and play on Saturdays. In 2024 I made the NMI U17 team that played in the U17 Pacific Invitational Team Challenge in Australia.

When I first won the HS tournament in Saipan. Memories Iโve made with teammates are memorable because theyโve helped me through the ups and downs in the sport.
Badminton is an important hobby to me. It deepens my social connections, is a means to keep me fit and healthy, and has allowed me to see various parts of the world.
The people in badminton are a friendly and humble community in the Northern Mariana Islands.

Iโve helped line judge and umpire during the middle school tournaments in Saipan. I would be interested in using my Shuttle Time Youth Leader training to coach young players in future.

Through Shuttle Time the sport is starting to grow. Every year more and more people have started to play. During lunch at my school, it seems that half of all the students are playing.
