BWF MEDIA UPDATE
The TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2022 take place in Bangkok, Thailand from 8 – 15 May 2022.
Originally, the winner of the Oceania Men’s and Women’s Team Championships would go on to compete at the respective Men’s and Women’s World Team Championships Finals – the TotalEnergies BWF Thomas and Uber Cup. However, in the result of cancellation, Oceania’s continental qualification spot is determined by the highest number of accumulated world ranking points across the nation’s top singles players and doubles pairs.
For the Thomas Cup, New Zealand prevailed, while Australia qualified for and accepted their position for the Uber Cup Finals 2022, with their team yet to be named. You can find out who they will be playing in this week’s live streamed draw.
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) will stream the live draw of the TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2022 on the BWF YouTube channel at 4pm (Malaysia time) on Friday 1 April 2022.
The year will see the 32nd edition of the Thomas Cup and the 29th edition of the Uber Cup. The biennial competition tests the allround strength of the world’s best teams in the men’s and women’s categories. The last edition of the TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals saw Indonesia achieve a monumental 14th title in the Thomas Cup, while China claimed the Uber Cup for the 15th time.
